The economics of publishing books in electronic form are too good to ignore.
When you consider the cost of marketing, publishing, shipping, and returns of printed materials vs. the cost of marketing and shipping an e-book the two are just not in the same league.
The cost of having a book printed and published exceeds $20,000 for about 3,000 copies. Again the cost of an e-book is $0.
How to sell and deliver your books to the reader?
To get your printed book sold you will need to market the book-to-book stores. To get in the bookstore you need a favorable review of your book. The review process works like this:
The author sends out press releases to book reviewers representing the genre of the book. If the reviewer becomes interested in the press release, the author will receive a request for a "review copy."
The author digs into the stash of books, pulls out a copy, attaches a reviewer or a media kit, and pays for the postage. On a $5 book that may add another $5 in shipping materials as well as postage. Many reviewers will ask you to ship your books by overnight express. The author may find himself spending up to $18 - $25 per reviewer!
Experts in the self-publishing field, state that you must send between 300-500 review copies to target genre reviewers before your book has a chance to become a hit. If you send out 500 book copies at a minimum of $10 per book, you have spent another $5,000 of your money.
Now you have to market the book. It's your job as the self-published author to get the books into the store, and it is your job to move the books from the store to your customers.
Many self-publishing marketing experts feel it takes around $30,000 per title to effectively market a book.
So here is the rundown of what it costs.
What it costs to print and sell a self-published book
$20,000.00 to print and place a cover on your book.
$ 5,000.00 to send books to reviewers
$30,000.00 to market each book effectively.
$55,000.00 is your total investment.
Out of your initial 3,000 run of books you have already given away 500 leaving you with 2,500 copies to sell.
Assuming your retail price is $20 per book and you can maintain that retail price for one year, the most you will bring in if you sell every remaining book is: $50,000
If you subtract the $50,000 you incurred as expenses you will have a net income of only $0.
Believe me when I tell you that will be the hardest you have ever worked for free.
Are these figures realistic? Yes, they are! Ask any self-published author what it cost to print and sell books.
Now let us use an example of creating or publishing an e-book and bringing it to market.
We will assume that you will want your own web site. It is possible to sell e-books without one, but lets look at all of the possibilities.
Let's assume that you have a computer and word processing software. You will need that anyway to self-publish your book the traditional way.
What it costs to publish and sell an e-book?
Cost of a Web site with secure credit card ordering is $50 per year. A good hosting company RD-Webhosting
Cost of an Internet provider is $240 per year.
Adobe Acrobat Software is $269 (One time charge)
Create as many e-books as you want with this setup.
Marketing costs. You can get by using "sweat equity" in other words you don't need to spend anything. (You just saved $30,000 Congratulations!) I will explain marketing later on.
Cover Graphics. You don't really need any unless you are posting to Amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com. There are people who will charge $100 or less to create an attractive e-book cover for you. Let's estimate on the high side of $200. You can use software like Paint Shop Pro or other graphic design software or take a picture, scan it into your computer and use that as your cover art.
Review Copies. There are e-book reviewers. You send the reviewers e-mail attachments that include copies of your e-book. Your cost to send it is $0. Think of how many reviewers you can service on the Internet. You will be happy to send out a review copies when you are not paying $10 or $20 per reviewer.
Once you own your e-book publishing software, the cost to "print" the e-book in digital form as an Adobe Acrobat, ASCII text, or as a Microsoft Word Document is $0.
Your total cost of the e-book production run of 3,000 e-books and your cost of sending these to 500 e-book reviewers including the total marketing costs for one year is $784. Now that you own the software for your next e-book projects, the total cost for each successive e-book is $200.If you sell that $20 book for only $10 as an e-book thus giving your reader 50% savings, you will bring in $30,000.
Many on-line e-book sellers are selling e-books at only a 20% discount compared to the printed and bound versions. If you follow that model you will receive $48,000 with out of pocket expense of only $784.
I am assuming a print run of 3,000 e-books in this example. An e-book is a digital file. If you have orders for 10,000,000 copies for the year, the cost will still remain at $784 for the first year!
Do you see why this may be the best time in your life to consider finishing that novel or to begin selling e-books and booklets on-line?

My wife is a piano teacher and is always looking for new and better ways to keep her students having fun. We've got a pile of music books, board games with flash cards for notes and chords, and sometimes we give prizes to the person who can get the farthest through a song without missing a note. These are all great ways to keep students interested but, now that we are full swing into the computer age, it just doesn't keep them as entertained as it used to.
Computers really are a great tool and we decided that our students would really benefit from using this technology to improve on their skills. The problem is that there are plenty of options out there, you can download a piano course from a lot of different websites but many of them offer only e-books, maybe a few example songs, or a video or two. Obviously you're interested in playing the piano, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this, so let me help you find the right place to download a piano course.
What you Really Want
Step by Step lessons - You don't just want a few lessons. You want a LOT of lessons. The last thing you want is to get good at a few songs and then find that you have trouble learning others. Often we have questions that a lot of courses just don't answer and that is something you want to avoid.
Audio Files - Reading from a book on piano is helpful but not for everyone. When you're learning how to play a song it really helps to be able to hear the song you're trying to play. Download a piano course that has plenty (at least 50) audio files for you to play along to.
Video lessons - My biggest problem when learning piano is that I always wondered if I was moving my fingers correctly. Not all of us live with a piano teacher and this can be very frustrating. Video lessons are just as good as having your own teacher (in fact, it's better...but don't tell my wife). With video lessons at your disposal you can see the exact techniques at any time of the day.
Games! - This is the biggest feature you should be looking for when trying to download a piano course. I'm not kidding, if you download a piano course with Games that teach you the basics AND make it fun to learn, you're laughing. There are some great ones out there too. My favorite is still Jayde Musica Pro. This game teaches you notes easily by challenging you to beat your own high scores. Notes fly across the screen and you identify them as quick as you can. There is no better way to get familiar with reading sheet music.
The Complete Deal - My biggest complaint about most of the piano courses available is that they only teach you the Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced Level; Not all three. I really don't think you should be paying for something that becomes useless shortly after you've bought it. Download a piano course that evolves with you and you will get your money's worth.
The most important thing to I remember when you try to download a program of piano should be fun and not just education. I believe if you do not continue to play and fun, this is a shame because the piano is a blast!

Today more and more people are getting into community games online. Online games are usually free to play and a simple to download can offer hours of unlimited fun. Some sites may ask you to join their membership sites and creating an account with them. However, many online gaming sites require no such membership affiliation. One game that keeps improving over the years is deer hunting online. This type of hunting game has really evolved with technology. They are no longer just the funny little characters running around you just blast to oblivion.
Today they are much more sophisticated, more detailed, and even harder to make a kill. The kind of games that make the real deer hunters salivate over if you know what I mean. The deer or whatever animal you are hunting is much more lifelike. The back grounds used seem as real as the real wilderness they portray. The weaponry is up to date and life like looking as well. Put all these pieces together, and you have a great receipt for an exciting game of deer hunting.
There is one thing you can add to the mix to make it even more enjoyable and that something is your imagination. Stop for a second and just think about where you could go, perhaps to Maine USA to hunt caribou, or even the plains of Africa in hunt of that big game trophy. Your imagination is the key to a real life experience in game hunting online. Allow your imagination to take you on the adventure of a life time as a big game hunter.
Another great way for you to make your online hunting a great experience would to, get involved with the community of people who are also using that particular site. Now you have a chance to play a great game and meet new people from all over the word at the same time. Most of these sites have special contest for their registered guests to play, some even give away real prizes. Other sites may give you bragging rights but hey it just for fun anyway right.
You can also try to get your friends or a family member involved as well. They can sign up on the same site and you compete against each other or work as a team against others online. Have you ever been stuck in the house on a miserable rainy day with nothing to do? Not anymore just, log into the adventure of a life time and start playing a hunting game of your choice. I'll bet after the first time you won't wait for a rainy day to play again.
No matter what kind of deer hunting game you want to play I'm confident that you can find it online. There is everything from just plain funny to the most serious types of deer hunting games. Each game requires it own set of skills, don't think for a second that just because it looks easy that it is. Even the simplest of games offer their own challenges.

Nicki Minaj is practically a fresh rapper in the music industry supported by the now broadly recognized Young Money team guided by the one only self-titled Greatest Rapper Alive, Lil Wayne. Along with her early success being this type of new rapper, most of her good results should be due to Weezy helping her and the 'barbie' gimic and also supplying her part of her hype. Due to the fact that the Young Money president is Weezy, she has even offered herself the moniker, Nicki Lewenski, referring to the Lewinsky scandal with Bill Clinton, the former president. Inside the end, it simply added much more gasoline to the hating flames but the response from the photograph just developed a lot more buzz and hype for her new mixtape and career.
Haters are continually likely to loathe, and they exactly bring up much more marketing for musicians at the end of the day. Nicki Minaj was actually presented on a song from the, 'Sucka Free' Mixtape and also a great number of other tracks and has freely reported that she wants and supports Nicki and her style. Since releasing the mixtape, she has additionally mentioned that she is concentrating on producing true purposeful new music currently, not exactly the Same old song, very interesting gender
She found her new song most of this mixtape you to protect the rest are expected to be held in 2010 for her debut album, her music, her Nicky Minaj envy In addition to the gender distribution, some charm.

My Way is the latest release from Pop Superstar Usher, and is another winner by this talented musician.
This CD will grab your attention right out of the gate with You Make Me Wanna... and doesn't let go until the very last note of the very last song You Make Me Wanna... - (extended version), which by the way is another great track.
The nice thing about a CD like this is when the talent is this rich even if Pop isn't your favorite style you still can't help but appreciate the greatness of the artist.
If you're even mildly into Pop music you'll enjoy this album. Overall My Way is an a great release. I give it my double thumbs up. You will not be disappointed with one single track.
While the entire album is outstanding the truly standout tunes are track 2 - Just Like Me, track 9 - One Day You'll Be Mine, and track 10 - You Make Me Wanna... - (extended version).
My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 - You Make Me Wanna.... What a nice track!

There is a digital divide in America, but it has less to do with economics as it does with age. Although senior citizens have made much headway in recent years, there are still significant segments of the elderly community that refuse to touch a computer, or anything digital at all with a ten foot pole.
The issue was broached beautifully several years ago on a television sitcom of all places. CBS's Everybody Loves Raymond told the story of how Ray's father Frank loved his old jazz records. He refused to modernize with CD's, and nobody could seem to convince him of the superiority of sound and features that CD's offered. In order to bring his father into the twenty-first century, Ray concocted a plan. He bought his father CD versions of the jazz records he already owned, and suddenly turned them on to prove their superior sound quality. As luck would have it, the volume on the CD player was cranked up way too high, proving what Frank had always believed: technology is nothing but trouble. Frank then put on one of his scratchy, static-laden LP's, and sighed contentedly. Low-tech rules!
The episode enforces the frustration many of us have had with our aging parents and grandparents. There are so many benefits that computers and digital devices would bring to our loved ones, if only they could get over their fear or technology. The biggest hurdle is, of course, the internet. How can you convince grandma to get online? This is no small challenge for many people. Fortunately, there is a way. It will take some legwork and patience on your end, but with a little gentle persuasion (and without condescension!), grandma will be bloggin' it up in no time. Or at least emailing.
1) Set-up. You need to either get her a computer with internet service or set up a place for her to get online. If you are going to help her at her home, make sure she has a high-speed connection. How fast? Consider that she likely won't be doing any heavy online gaming, but she will want to video conference. A 1.5 Mbps connection would be sufficient. Just make sure she isn't using dial-up, which is just way too slow for today's complex websites. Remember, we want this to be a comfortable experience for her. If she lives in any type of Assisted Living facility, chances are, she will have some place to get online already, or at least wi-fi service to get online with her own laptop.
2) Create her online accounts in advance. You see, it might sound easy for you to tell her to "go to Facebook and make your own profile," but that is complicated stuff if you haven't done it before. You can start by getting her a web-based email account from Yahoo, MSN, or Gmail. If you can, try to choose usernames and passwords that will work on several sites so she doesn't have to remember 10 different ones. Make sure the email site is set to "Remember my Password," and write her username and password on a sheet of paper in case she has trouble signing in later on. Once her email is set up, you can proceed to social networking sites like Facebook, or something more senior focused like Eons.com or Senioricity.com. But photo sites will be even more important. Get her signed up with a site like Photobucket, Snapfish, or Flickr. Make sure it will be compatible with the sites that you or other family members use so that it will be easy for her to share pictures of the grandkids.
3) Get her set up for Video Conferencing. This might sound harder than it is. If her computer is not set up with a built-in camera, go to Wal-Mart and buy a Skype-compatible USB 2.0 camera with built-in microphone. They can retail between $15 and $50, depending on quality. Installation should be a snap for any computer made in the past couple of years. When you get it installed, go to Skype.com and get her signed up for a Skype account. Same rules apply here: choose the same username, and ask Skype to "remember" her information. Once you are into her new account, add family members' usernames and passwords to her contact list.
4) Make everything simple! You can do this without being condescending. Every person is different. Some seniors might resent it if you create a couple of simple icons on their desktop labeled "Internet," "E-mail," and "Grand-Babies." But more likely, they will appreciate the effort to make everything just a click away. This kind of thing doesn't take much time at all, and a clutter-free computing experience is a low-stress experience.
5) Coordinate with other family members, especially the ones who live out of town. Before she ever gets online, have them share their photo albums online, and even send her an email welcoming her to the twenty-first century, complete with a photo attachment. But best of all would be to make sure they are ready and willing to video conference with her right off the bat. Nothing will bring tears to her eyes quicker than seeing the grandkids wave to her with a few easy clicks of the mouse. It will go a long way in making her online experience comfortable and exciting right off the bat.
6) The reveal. All of the previous steps are preparation. She doesn't have to be there when you do them. In fact, it would be better if she wasn't, because she might get nervous seeing you enter so much information at different sites. So once you have completed steps 1-5, bring her to the computer, and let her see, step by step, all of the cool things she can do online. Even now, be sure not to over-do it. She probably won't be ready for Netflix streaming movies. That's okay. Take it one step at a time. She'll get there eventually!
Remember that for The Greatest Generation, technology and gadgets are secondary to relationships. It ought to be that way for every generation, shouldn't it? For this reason, it is best to focus on those online advancements that bring people closer together, especially the grandkids. If you can prove to her that Little 'knowledge to develop long-distance relationships with loved ones may be all he needs.
